Using the Moft laptop stand was an absolute delight. So when I saw Moft X phone and Moft X Tablet stand on Kickstarter, I had to back it, and I was eagerly waiting for this crazy-looking solution to a phone stand. It looked a lot cooler and sleeker than those annoying pop sockets or those rings. But there were obvious concerns if Moft could replicate their ingenuity and sophistication from the Laptop stand.
On unboxing Moft, you are pleasantly greeted with the stand itself, user manual, safety instructions and a magnet. This magnet can be added anywhere (Car, kitchen, bathroom, wherever) and you can easily attach your phone to watch videos, Google Maps handsfree. The entire process of sticking it your phone is straightforward and natural with a simple peel and stick method. The Moft X phone and tablet stand work with magnets. The stands have strong magnets on different areas of the product, making it easy and intuitive to use.

Before we get into the pros and cons,
Spoiler: This is the best phone stand I have ever used or seen, and I feel everyone should buy it. That being said, it definitely has a few minor, liveable drawbacks.
Let’s get right into it.
What’s good?
1) Pain free video calling and content consumption

Over the last couple of years, the size of smartphones have been drastically increasing, and consumers are watching a lot more videos on their smartphones. Apart from that, apps like Kindle, Blinkist and thousands of RSS newsreaders have increased reading on a mobile device. However, pop sockets and rings don’t necessarily provide the best solution for any of those uses in both landscape and portrait mode. I have a Galaxy Note 10 +, and everyone knows it is a massive 6.7-inch phone. While the phone is excellent to read and watch YouTube, it was extremely annoying that I couldn’t place it and watch handsfree, until the Moft X came and became an instant lifesaver. It has the perfect angle (40 degrees tilt) to watch videos on a relatively small device (compared to a tablet). The portrait mode angle is 60 degrees which is the best viewing angle on average when it comes to reading or for video calls. It would’ve been nice to have more angles to use, but keeping it simple for a small device is a better choice as it avoids any confusion. The Moft X tablet stand has up to six different orientations, and it makes sense because tablets are much bigger devices.
2) Forget that cardholder!

Moft X phone stands have an option to store upto 3 cards stored in them. This is a great option as you get to take your most essential cards, especially when you’re going to a nearby coffee shop or the grocery store. There have been a lot of instances where I leave my wallet at home when I go to a nearby store or café. I initially assumed this was a fancy gimmick, and it wasn’t for me. However, the Moft X definitely adds a certain level of convenience that is hard to let go after trying it (this applies to all the perks).
3) Perfect navigating companion

Remember the magnet that comes in the box? Yes, that is a lifesaver, especially if you drive. The combination of Moft and the magnet is perfect for driving. Instead of having those clunky smartphone holders in your car, this is an elegant way to snap your phone on the dashboard and start driving. The magnets are strong and feel secure throughout the drive, at least in my experience. It is definitely a lot neater, sturdier and more straightforward than a cheap smartphone holder.
4) Sleeker than most

Did you ever feel that the Popsockets and rings all celebrities use are just so inconvenient? They get stuck in your pocket, wobble on the table and look funny. When Moft X launched their stand, it looked remarkably sleek compared to most of the other options and wasn’t made of plastic. Moft X offers a premium design for a smartphone accessory with magnets, the folding mechanism and functionality being close to perfect. When closed, Moft looks completely sleek without a visible, uneven protrusion. In landscape or portrait orientation, the Moft X is an eye-catcher with elegant balance throughout. There were plenty of people asking me where to buy. As a whole, with few exceptions, it looks a lot more stylish than any of the other phone stands in the market.
5) Efficiently reusable
The biggest advantage and benefit of Moft X is the ability to remove, wash and attach it again. Most of the options in the market don’t have a reusability rating of upto 100 times. I’ve tried it 15 times, and there is hardly any noticeable concern with the stickiness of the stand. My suggestion is to attach Moft on a phone case as you always have a choice to use your phone in its slender form. Also, attaching Moft on a case allows you to charge your phone wirelessly or use a phone payment method by removing the case whenever needed.
6) Smartphones made simple

Moft innovated an easy alternative to hold your phone. By opening the stand and not using the magnets, it can become an extremely useful tool for holding and using your phone. Making audio calls, reading on the train or texting with one hand is a lot simpler by using this handy trick, even for a massive phone like the Note 10 +.
7) Plethora of designs

Moft has always been really creative with their products by involving plenty of artists to create unique designs. Similarly, with the Moft X, there are plenty of innovative designs apart from the regular, grey, green and blue that delivers excitement and interest for the customers. The company is continually replacing these designs, which combines a sense of urgency with a fun benefit for the consumers at a minimal additional cost.
What’s wrong?
1) No wireless charging or phone payment

This issue is solely dependant on the individual. I am someone that uses tap and pay on the phone, wireless charging and reverse wireless charging to charge up smaller devices. For these features, it was a slight hurdle, especially when I used Moft X without a phone case. However, I feel the benefits of the stand outweigh the negatives in this situation. Anyway, I started using the Moft with a Dbrand grip case or latercase, to make it easy to use all the features by removing the case whenever needed.
2) Wear and tear

There is a 50-50 chance of the cloth behind the Moft to tear. This will not ruin the functionality of the product by any means, but it will have ruin the design and appeal to some extent. Personally, I don’t mind, but I know people who absolutely hated it. Apart from that, there is some damage to the cloth at the part you use to open the grip. Even this doesn’t affect the functionality of the product but feels a little less premium. There are noticeable creases due to continuous usage (I’ve used it for 6 months as if now) that get worse over time. However, most of these wear and tear issues are only for a few designs (particularly the blue). Space grey still looks glorious with no design flaw except the crease.
The benefits outweigh the costs for Moft X. This is an excellent product with few issues that can easily be fixed. I can easily suggest Moft X to anyone that wants a phone stand and is looking for an alternative to Popsockets or the rings. It is a beautiful product with lesser designs than Popsockets but with classy designs. They have been growing their product line from the original laptop stand to plenty of other accessories for consumer electronics. They recently launched the Moft Z on Kickstarter, and I had to back it because it seems like another problem-solving product. I hope the company continues to grow and innovate, providing us with great products.
