The Reason Behind The Negative Stigma Around Android!

A lot of people told me ‘Android phones’ don’t last, they stop performing after 6 months, keep crashing. But here’s the thing, all these people had one thing in common, they used a budget android phone from 2012-2015. I used an Android for most part of my life and I’ve never faced any issue. Sure iPhones last 5 years as opposed to 3 or maybe 4 for a flagship Android. However, in 5 years, the tech industry, especially Android has grown and developed more than you can imagine

The reason iPhones always lasted longer than an average Android phone is because you used to pay that much more for them. You get what you pay for…. You pay $1000 for an iPhone 11 Pro or a Samsung Note 10 +; you are bound to get the same performance (Apple’s chipsets are overkill and apps can’t take advantage of that). Even OnePlus’s 700-800 dollar phones are exceptionally good (ask MKBHD if you want). I used my Note 10 + for an entire year and had no issues with it whatsoever. In most cases, it performs better than an iPhone 11 Pro Max because it has 3 times the RAM. I love the display and cameras are just as good.

People have a horrible stigma around Android smartphones because they pay $400 and expect it to have the best of everything and expect it to last 4 years. It doesn’t work that way. The correlation between the price you pay and the expectation from the smartphone should be realistic. You can pay $399 for an iPhone SE, and it will technically last 5 years. But in exchange, you are getting a horrible display, disastrous battery, a phone that is way too small and cameras that aren’t as good (Pixel is cheaper).

In 2020, no matter which flagship phone you choose, your experience is going to be the same. With iOS 14, Apple made iPhones even more similar to Android, and Google brought Nearby Share (Airdrop for Android) to Pixel and Samsung devices for now. There are more similarities than discrepancies between iOS and Android. I will continue being an Android user in the foreseeable future because of the innovation that takes place on the other side of the wall. With foldable smartphones becoming a lot better, Android seems like a no-brainer for someone like me. However, if you prefer the laidback approach that Apple takes with iPhones, it’s good to live in that life.
